Calls To Close The Bank of International Settlements

On more than 2 occassions there were efforts to shut down the BIS. But, somehow, the bank managed to remain.  In 1944, the Bretton-Woods Conference was calling for the liquidation of the BIS, following accusations that it was laundering gold stolen by the Nazis from occupied Europe; but the central bankers quietly stopped the American resolution from happening.
